Tips From
Valerie's Kitchen

Bananas seem to ripen so quickly and when I buy a hand of 8, I place 4 in the fruit bowl to ripen and 4 in the Green Bags setting beside the fruit bowl.

Here is a comparison of bananas bought at the same time. Three were kept in a GreenBag, the others ripened fast.

Time span on the photo is 5 days.

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little "stringy things" off of it. That's how the primates do it.

Bet you didn't know!
Neither did I until a friend forward me an eMail with this valuable information.

Remember your aggravation when pulling plastic wrap or aluminum foil from the carton? It came out and dropped to the counter! Check the end of the carton and you'll discover indentations. Press them in at both ends and they act as roll guards keeping the wrap and foil from leaving the box!

Just think of all the years we didn't know about this clever idea!
